Events Happening at Lower Fort Garry this Summer

This summer, Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site is buzzing with exciting events you won't want to miss! From historical reenactments and hands-on workshops to lively music festivals and family-friendly activities, there's something for everyone!

This Canada Day, head to Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site for a fun-filled day of FREE admission and festivities for the whole family! 

Participate in various family-friendly activities and games set throughout the fort, Explore the historic site and learn about Canada’s rich heritage, and cap off the day with a special cake-cutting ceremony and a heartfelt rendition of O Canada at the Big House.

On select Saturdays throughout July and August, Immerse yourself in the cultural perspectives of First Nations and Metis artists through writing, film and hands-on artistry. Anyone wanting to learn more about and connect more deeply with First Nations and Red River Métis culture is invited and encouraged to attend. Learn more here!

Learn about Treaty No. 1 – the first of the numbered treaties – on the 153rd anniversary of its signing between the Ojibway, Swampy Cree and the Crown. As the first treaty, it set the precedent that allowed Canada's settlement and sovereignty as a nation.
