Scarecrow Contest
The St. Andrews Heritage Centre are hosting their 1st Scarecrow Contest!
Here’s what you need to know:
Free and open to all ages, families, friends, groups, and businesses.
No theme, but scarecrows must be family friendly.
Prizes are up for grabs!
You can either take your scarecrow home or display it on the museum grounds between October 12–18, with the option to pick it up afterward.
Winners will be chosen by community engagement on Facebook & Instagram and announced on October 18, on @starectory social media.

Halloween Haunt
Board the haunted S.S. Keenora…if you are brave enough! Every October the Marine Museum of Manitoba transforms the SS Kenora into a haunting experience so intense, you might just “ship” your pants!
This is a no-contact haunt. Their spooky ghouls inside will not touch you. Children 12 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult. Parental Discretion strongly advised, as this is NOT suitable for young children or those scared of the dark. Please read through their rules and regulations here.

Migratory Bird Weekend
Join Oak Hammock Marsh as they celebrate migration.
Watch bird banding demonstrations on both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. located just south of the parking lot.
Special theatre presentations by Paula Grieef, Manitoba bird expert and Director of the bird banding station at Oak Hammock Marsh.
September 27 – 2 p.m. – Migration Patterns
You often hear that birds have shown up late or early. Migration is fairly predictable. Learn about what species show up when.
September 28 – 2 p.m. – How We Track Birds
Learn why we mark birds, the methods used, and some amazing migration journeys discovered through this research.

The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals
The Interlake Players are back with their 5th production, "The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals" a profanity-laced zombie horror musical comedy, performing on September 25-27 at the Selkirk United Church!
Synopsis:
A meteor has struck the old Starlight Theatre in downtown Hatchetfield. Paul, an average guy, with an average job (of above average height) believes something sinister is infecting Hatchetfield. An alien contagion is turning residents into zombies who sing and dance.
Paul does not like musicals, so can Paul, his coworkers and his crush, the crabby barista Emma, save the planet from becoming a musical!?!

Evening Canoe Excursion
Join canoe specialist, Dusty Molinski, guide you through Oak Hammock Marsh on a two hour evening paddle! You can bring your own canoe, kayak, or SUP, or you can rent one.
If you plan to bring your own watercraft, you must have it decontaminated at a provincial decontamination station before the event to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.
