Girls in Sport Fundraiser
The STACC Girls in Sport Fund is open to all and celebrates the role girls and women play in strengthening the sport community.
The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and features a silent auction throughout the day. Guests are encouraged to stay for the first-ever Olympic Watch Party at 2:00 p.m., cheering on Team Canada Women’s Hockey as they face Switzerland.
Event Schedule:
• 9:00–10:00 a.m. – Pancake Breakfast (by donation)
• 10:00–11:00 a.m. – STACC Girls & Women in Sport Fund Launch, featuring keynote speakers
• 11:00–11:45 a.m. – Free activities to choose from, including Ringette Manitoba, skating, fun ’90s aerobics, and kids’ games

Matt Fairlane Retirement Match
For the first time in nearly eight years, Canadian Wrestling Elite returns to Selkirk to celebrate hometown wrestling legend Matt Fairlane.
A pioneer of Selkirk’s wrestling scene, Fairlane helped put the city on the map nearly 30 years ago with Body Slam Wrestling and went on to compete across Canada, capturing the CWE Championship in 2012. After retiring in 2018 due to an injury, he shifted his focus to bodybuilding and running The Iron Image Barbell Club in Selkirk.
Now, Fairlane trains to step back into the ring one final time at the historic Memorial Hall, marking the venue’s first wrestling event in 15 years to celebreate his legacy and career!

Moonlight Snowshoe Walk
Visitors are invited on a guided snowshoe adventure under the stars! Led by an experienced guide, participants will experience the beauty of Oak Hammock Marsh followed by a cozy bonfire to warm up.
The outing includes approximately 60 minutes of snowshoeing. Families bringing young children are encouraged to consider using a sleigh for little snowshoers. Group size is limited to 12 participants. Snowshoes are provided.

Visitors are invited to discover the fascinating world of tiny creatures living beneath the frozen surface of Oak Hammock Marsh. Hidden under layers of ice and snow lies a remarkable microscopic universe, where life continues to thrive throughout the winter months. From nimble water fleas to resilient insect larvae.
This unique experience offers a closer look at the hidden wonders of winter and is included with regular admission. No registration is required.

Guided Snowshoe Hike
On the third Sunday of each month until March, join the City of Selkirk for a new winter adventure. Each session will focus on a new outdoor activity. From snowshoeing, hiking, snow sculpting and more.
Open to all ages. A parent/guardian much accompany children under the age of 12. This program is free! Registration is still required here to ensure equipment and supplies.

Red River Paddle Challenge 2026
This year, Red River Paddle Challenge is celebrating a monumental milestone: the 100-year anniversary of the legendary Les Voyageurs Canoe Race!
In 1926, Winnipeg Canoe Club Commodore Fred G. Thompson started a 100 km canoe challenge from Winnipeg to Lockport via the Winnipeg Canoe Club, in honour of his brother, Lieutenant Edward “Pace” Thompson.
Red River Paddle Challenge is a 44 kilometre (~27 miles) long distance single day paddling race on the Red River beginning in Winnipeg, Manitoba and ending down river in Lockport, Manitoba.
Les Voyageurs Challenge is a 110 kilometer (~68 miles) ultra distance paddling race on the Red River beginning in Ste Agathe, Manitoba and ending down river in Lockport, Manitoba. Les Voyageurs is a two-day staged race where participants paddle from Ste Agathe to The Forks Historic Port in Winnipeg on day one and then on day two participants join in with the Red River Paddle Challenge paddlers and paddle to Lockport.

Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Ice Fishing Derby
The 4th annual Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Ice Fishing Derby returns on Sunday, March 1, 2026, welcoming anglers of all ages and skill levels for a full day of fishing and friendly competition!
Participants will have the chance to compete for a $25,000 grand prize, awarded for the longest walleye. The grand prize is paid out to the top 10 entries, with final cash amounts based on total tickets sold.
Additional prizes include five early-bird prizes valued at $300 each, five $300 door prizes, and $300 cash prizes for first fish caught, most fish caught, and smallest fish (any species). In total, more than $50,000 in prizes will be awarded.
Tickets are available online here and can also be purchased in person at Wavers (BON), Smitty’s Westwood (Winnipeg), and Sportsman Stop (Lockport).

Shuffleduck Tournament
Gather a team and take part in Oak Hammock Marsh Shuffleduck Tournament! This is a lighthearted winter activity that combines curling with shuffleboard, except using colourful rubber duckies!
Teams are matched up at random and advance through the rounds based on points earned. Teams of three are recommended, with a maximum of four players per team included in the registration fee. Learn the rules of Shuffleduck and register your team here.

Steelers Game
Bring friends and family to cheer on Selkirk’s local hockey team, the Selkirk Steelers, for a fun and afforable winter activity!
Tickets are affordably priced at $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for youth (ages 6–17) and students, with children five and under free when accompanied by a paid adult. Available at the door.

Moonlight Snowshow Walk
Explore Oak Hammock Marsh on a guided moonlight snowshoe experience. Led by an experienced guide, participants will journey through the frozen wetland followed by a cozy bonfire.
The snowshoe portion lasts approximately 60 minutes. Families with young children are encouraged to consider using a sleigh.
Participation is limited to a maximum of 12 people, and snowshoes are provided. Online pre-registration is required here.

Community Art Show Grand Opening
Join the St. Andrews Heritage Centre for their grand opening of their 7th annual Community Art Show!
This year, the art show will feature 50 pieces by 19 local artists. You'll find professionals and emerging artists showcasing their original oil paintings and sculptures to mixed media and watercolour pieces. Admission is free.

Great Puzzle Race
Love puzzles and a little competition? Teams of four will battle the clock and each other to complete a 500-piece puzzle the fastest.
Come early with your favorite appetizers to share and mingle with fellow puzzlers. Register as a team or individual. Compete for prizes in three categories: first place, best-dressed team, and for a door prize. No alcohol permitted.
