Just follow the flow of the Red River north to Lake Winnipeg. Along the shallow edges of the lake you can dig your toes into the sand on numerous beautiful beaches.

No cottage? No problem!

At either end of Red River North, discover parks with wonderful swimming, hiking, and picnicking facilities and a range of options for winter activity too!

On the east side of the Red River travel up HIghway 59 to a string of unmatched white sand beaches. Plus! there’s a quaint museum, restaurants, and more. Prefer clothing optional? We’ve got that too!

Follow Highway 9 north on the west side of the river to find more beaches and plenty of family-friendly amenities.

Whichever side you choose, you can beach yourself in Red River North.

  • Birds Hill Provincial Park

    Off Highway 59 just minutes north of WInnipeg, this park is a popular spot for families offering a shallow man-made lake with sand beaches, campgrounds, riding stables, hiking trails, and more.

  • Ponemah, Matlock, Whytewold

    Together, these three cottage areas along the west short of the lake comprise the Village of Dunottar. Public access to the water is available at various points.

  • Selkirk Water Park

    It’s got a beach! Definitely an outdoor pool with a difference. Set in a riverside park amid mature trees and manicured lawns, this water park has a unique sandy beach and an adjacent splash pad.
