The East Beaches Heritage Wing, a delightful interactive museum nestled in the Grand Marais Community Central building, just 60 km north of Winnipeg on the shores of beautiful Lake Winnipeg. This space celebrates the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of the East Beaches, stretching from Stoney Point to the tip of Elk Island.

Discover the underwater world of Lake Winnipeg with their aquariums. Read about the lake formations and the history of the lake through captivating videos and graphs. Relive the past with tales from locals about life in the East Beaches, send a model train through a detailed Grand Beach diorama, and marvel at vintage 1920s bathing suits. Flip through Beach Memories photos and videos or pick up a retro pay phone to hear messages from local vendors.

  • East Beaches Heritage Wing is open from the May long weekend to October long weekend.

  • The East Beaches Heritage Wing Museum is located at 36094 Provincial Trunk Hwy 12, Grand Marais. There is parking available on site.

  • The Grand Marais Heritage Centre hosts an outdoor market during the summer. The market usually starts at the end of June and ends the first week of September.

    The market takes place from 2 - 6 p.m.
